Here's everything you wanted to know about attending Grand Convention!

Arriving at Convention Arrival for Attendees

Delegates and non-delegates need to arrive in time to attend the first event on June 23, 2016. Please visit the Travel Information page to see when your first event starts.

What to Bring

Your badge, enthusiasm, and ideas to share with other Thetas! Your schedule, information on Grand Council candidates, the legislative process, legislation, and much more will be provided on-site if you opt to receive the participant handbook, or via the Theta Convention app.

Do make sure to pack the following:

  • Appropriate dress. Business casual is appropriate during the day (i.e. skirts, slacks, sweater sets). Please plan to pack two dressy outfits: one for the Theta Celebration: An Evening of Recognition (you will have time prior to the meals to change your outfit) and another for the Convention Banquet. You may also want to bring a light sweater for comfort in the air-conditioned hotel.
  • Comfortable clothing to wear after each day's activities.
  • Credit card, checks, or cash to purchase pansies at the Theta Foundation Pansy Patch desk, Theta merchandise from Greek-licensed vendors throughout the vendor hall, and other essentials.
  • Ideas and questions! Bring questions you would love to get answered and ideas you're eager to share!

Arriving at the Hotel

When you arrive at the Arizona Biltmore:

  • Check in at the hotel lobby to receive your room key. Bellman tips are not included in the registration fee, so please tip accordingly ($1-$2 per bag).
  • Check in at the Grand Convention registration area in the Frank Lloyd Wright foyer to receive your Convention materials. Take time to review the materials so you can prepare yourself for the days ahead!
  • Also in the Frank Lloyd Wright foyer, stop by the Theta Foundation desk to purchase pansies, and check out the vendors area to browse Theta merchandise for sale.

Sessions and Meals

Please be on time for all sessions and meals. Grand Convention runs on a tight schedule! Also, please be considerate during any speaker presentations by refraining from talking.

To make the most of your Grand Convention experience, try to meet as least one new person at each event. There will be more than 900 sisters who would love to meet you!

 Business Sessions (Friday and Saturday)

College and alumnae chapter delegates sit in order by chapter name at the front of the room, alumnae chapters on the right facing the stage and college chapters on the left. The other voting delegates will be seated directly behind, with all other members seated beside the delegate sections.

Only delegates can bring a motion to the floor or vote, but any member can be recognized to voice her opinion during discussion.

Please remember that no food is allowed in any business session. Water will be available.

Unless being used for Convention business, all personal electronics (tablets, laptop computers, etc.) shall be turned off during business sessions. Please review the social media policy and standing rules for more information.

Theta Marketplace

You can purchase many types of Theta merchandise on site. To find out which vendors are coming to Phoenix, please visit the Sponsors/Vendors page; it is updated when more companies are added to the list. Please know that Theta Marketplace will be open on Thursday, June 23 only!

Convention Banquet (Saturday Evening)

This is a very special night! It's time to dress up, enjoy a wonderful meal, and spend a lovely evening with your Kappa Alpha Theta sisters. Dinner is preceded by the Banquet Procession, a time-honored tradition where delegates and members process through the halls by chapter, beginning with Alpha Chapter.
