What Is Grand Convention?
The legislative body of the Fraternity, Grand Convention meets every two years (even-numbered) to address official Fraternity business. The voting members of the Convention body include a delegate from each college and alumnae chapter in good standing, the members of Grand Council, including the presidents of the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and the Fraternity Housing Corporation; the chairmen of standing committees as may be prescribed by Grand Council; the alumnae district directors; and the college district directors. Discussing and voting on legislation, receiving reports from officers, and electing Grand Council are just some examples of the business taking place.
All Kappa Alpha Thetas are encouraged to attend Convention and participate in the deliberations and festivities. Convention attendees make new friends or renew bonds from the past, attend Fraternity business meetings, hear from speakers on topics that matter, witness the installation of Grand Council, and experience the historic Arizona Biltmore hotel, the "jewel of the desert." Each Convention has its own unique theme and flavor, but every Convention celebrates the very best of Kappa Alpha Theta.
